The History of Excellence in Window Cleaning
Our Founder: Jim Cherrington's Quest for Excellence
Jim embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in the mid-1980s when he established "Sunbelt Sanitation Services." His venture into window cleaning started on a crisp January 3, 1986, with a brief but crucial lesson from Charlie Bradley of Bradley's Janitorial Supply. This marked the inception of a lifelong commitment to the art and science of window cleaning.
In 1989, Jim decided to rebrand his business, giving birth to "Excellence in Window Cleaning." He made the strategic decision to shift his focus solely to window cleaning, dissolving his Sanitation company. Borrowing $3,400 to acquire a Toyota Pickup and essential window cleaning equipment, he set out to bring clarity to countless homes and businesses.
The Inaugural Customers: A Journey of Trust
Jim's reputation preceded him, thanks to his previous janitorial business. He brought 40 loyal accounts from his janitorial venture, which laid the foundation for Excellence in Window Cleaning's first customers. Over the years, the trust of these clients has become an integral part of our identity. To this day, most of our business comes from word-of-mouth referrals.
Passing on the Tradition: A Family Affair
The journey of Excellence in Window Cleaning is also one of generational commitment. Ian, Jim's son, stepped into the family business in 1996, at the tender age of 12. Over time, he grew to lead a dedicated crew in 2006, and by 2009, he was managing our expanding footprint in Riverside County. The bond with our clients has been so strong that we now serve the third generation of some families.

In 2016, we extended our window cleaning expertise to Orange County. This expansion was a testament to our commitment to deliver excellence to an ever-growing family of satisfied clients.

In 2010, Michael Childs joined the team. His arrival marked a significant moment in the company's history, as he initiated a systematic modernization of customer files and digital records. His contributions were instrumental in fueling the company's steady growth, leading to a twofold expansion in the business's size by the time of Jim's retirement on December 31, 2019.

Ian Cherrington
Introducing Ian Cherrington, the dedicated leader of Excellence in Window Cleaning and a proud second-generation window cleaner. As the only child of our founder, Jim Cherrington, Ian not only carries on the family business but upholds a legacy of unwavering commitment to excellence.
Ian's journey began with his 2002 graduation from Temecula Valley High School, followed by earning his degree from the University of the Pacific (UOP) in 2006. Rooted in the local community, Ian has been a stalwart presence in the Temecula Valley.
Beyond his expertise in window cleaning, Ian is a dynamic contributor to the performing arts. He passionately engages in historical re-enactments as an active member of the Old Town Temecula Gunfighters. This group is dedicated to performing old west re-enactments that are not only historical, educational, and safe but also entertaining in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Adding another note to his artistic repertoire, Ian performs in "Country Live at the Merc," showcasing his musical talents and contributing to the vibrant cultural scene of the Temecula Valley. This, coupled with his involvement in many productions of the Temecula Valley Players, reflects Ian's commitment to bringing diverse and top-tier entertainment to the local community.

Michael Childs
Meet Michael Childs, a driving force behind Excellence in Window Cleaning, bringing a wealth of experience and a strategic vision to our team. A 1994 graduate of Lincoln High School in Stockton, California, Michael embarked on a journey of academic and professional achievements that laid the foundation for his dynamic career.
In 2002, Michael earned his Master's Degree from California State University, Stanislaus, setting the stage for a series of impactful roles in the corporate world. His career kicked off as a Fleet Manager at JB Hunt, followed by a position as an Account Manager at Freight Management, Inc. Michael's expertise in fleet management then led him to USF Reddaway (YRC), where he served as a Pricing Analyst.
In 2010, Michael and his family made the move to Temecula, California, leveraging his operations management skills to update customer files, digitalize the customer base, and revamp scheduling for Excellence in Window Cleaning. His strategic contributions played a pivotal role in the steady growth of the business, resulting in the doubling of its size by the time of Jim's retirement on December 31, 2019.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael is a devoted father currently residing in Temecula with his three children, ages 16, 14, and 8. Recently navigating a life transition, he finds joy in his passions, particularly playing Pickleball and bowling.
